World of Miniature
Recently got the new interest in tilt-shift photography or sometimes partly known as fake-miniature photography. It turns some scenery pictures into some "macro-model world" pictures..

Happy CNY 2010
First of all, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone, it's my 3rd time away from celebrating CNY back home.. really miss those........... angbaos.. =) oklah, and family and friends and you also..
what had keeping me from blogging this long?? it's actually my court report..
basically I have to come up with a scenario of a crime, but i'm not allowed to categorised it as a crime as i'm not a police, i'm just a forensic scientist, and to analyse the "evidence" found from the crime scene.. get the results and write a very nice detailed report for submission.. which later in March i'll have to defend my report in court.. so basically i had wrote something that is going to tear myself into pieces by professional barrister, expert witness with years of experiences, and lecturers..
sounds easy? not there yet.. i have to cover every single detail so that i can answer the questions put to me in court.. from the procedures i took in analysing my evidence, to the chain of custody, to the cleanliness of the lab, why i had did this, why i had did that.. it's not easy to think of everything and cover everything.. spent so many hours thinking of it to wrap it round.. but i bet that they will still find loopholes to rip me..
still thinking of whether to publish my report online or not, though it meant nothing to you guys..
anyway.. time to move onto my final year project report.. which another report that i will have to think more as well.. grey hairs is coming out of my head now.. sigh...

Lately....

What had been keeping me blurdy busy lately....
The poster that I had poured in hours to design, search for info, input, think, etc etc......
and after spending more hours in marking other student's posters, which got really really really bored of because a look at the posters had already gave the sign of boredium.. because we all studied all of these since first year.. if the posters need to get mark, it should be open for publication, mark by people who is not from Forensic Science...
Many more assignments to come... darn!
Big ones: Court Report & Final Year Project Report..
Medium ones: DNA report, Final Year Project Presentation..
Small ones: lots of really small assignments but still need to be done..
Everyday the uni is trying to sacrifice me......
This is quite true... from Sek Joe.
Man can live for forty days without food,
about three days without water,
about eight minutes without air,
but only one second without hope.

Comparison of Forensic
Here is a post about stuffs I had studied for the past 3 years..
Below are two images taken from BBC website and TheStar Malaysia website. The first one is the recent car bomb exploded with a serving police inside, you can see CSI on the spot looking for forensic evidence.. The second picture is also a recent picture, a bomb (molotov cocktail) was thrown into a church by some idiots to protest against the use of "Allah" word by Christians, I'm not going to discuss about this issue in this post, but you and I know both the bombers are stupid..

What I really wanted to talk about is the forensic procedures carried out by both countries.. See any similarities or differences?!
First pic has at least 5 person on scene, only to do with forensic evidence, not including Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) heading the investigations, Investigating Officer doing all the investigation ordered by SIO, a couple of police constables secured around the scene, diverting all the traffic around etc etc.. It's called Scene Management.
For a more detailed version, the scene is cordon up the cordon line you can see in the picture is probably the Inner Cordon, while the photographer probably took that photo outside the Outer Cordon, there is a system in placing all these cordon, and also reasons for it, to provide security and integrity.. You also can see evidence markers (yellow numbers) on the scene, so that one of the CSI can draw a scene map, labelling all the evidence found on scene, and know where the pieces of evidence originated.. And the most important, all of the personnel that is in the scene, are all suited up with overalls to prevent contaminations, it's not just suited up, but with gloves, shoe coveralls, face mask etc..
Second pic? Blurdy hell.. No cordon? I believe at least 100 people had walked over the place the police is collecting "evidence" on before they arrived, typical Malaysians will come over, gather around and watch the incident.. Do they really think they are looking at the "evidence" from the explosion? No coveralls? No shoes overalls? No gloves? just bare hands? No evidence marking as well?? I doubt the photographer actually have the scene map with evidence labels on it..
If the culprit behind the explosives in Malaysia was really caught, which I doubt so, a blurdy good barrister will throw all the forensic procedures errors in front of the police, the judges, the juries, and the public..
I know that forensic aspect in Malaysia is still way back old fashion, but it's the 21st century.. You doesn't want to keep up, then you may have a problem.. Malaysia Forensic has lots of problem, I am a fresh forensic scientist, I know that I do not have much experience, but what I had studied told me that the Malaysia Forensic procedures is making a fool of themselves.
Time for a change.

2010
New Year's Eve of 2009, had been in UK for about 3 years now, for the past 2 years I had went to countdown for the new year, and before coming to UK, had been celebrating it with Youth 7, had our annual dinner every single year since 2001. How I wish I can have an annual dinner together with you guys again.

This year, a rather last minute decision, I went to London again and countdown for the New Year. Spent (Waste) another 6 hours of freezing cold temperatures, standing the same spot, not much entertainment though.. Kind of disappointed for this year countdown, apart from the fireworks show.
The best part of show is the fireworks, the effect of the fireworks are fine-tuned with computer this year, so they are much well coordinated. Most memorable is right after the fireworks finished, and everyone was wishing everyone Happy New Year, singing the song "Auld Lang Syne" altogether, it snows. It really snows after midnight, right after the fireworks finished, it didn't rain nor snow before New Year, but right after it finished. It's just really touching.
The Night Eye in sky shining over the Eye of London, fireworks bursting out for a new hope in a new year, snow giving a new fate.
More pictures at HERE!
Happy 2010 to everybody!
2010 Resolution, I can do so much more!
The Song will end, but Story will not.
