虽然我们没曾真正相识过，

虽然我们没曾真正交谈过。

但是你我曾经遇见过。

一个微笑，一句问候。

不多，但也不会少。

曾经坐在一起，一起的做NMR的问题，

一起讨论过很难解答的问题，

一起提出个人的意见。

虽然不是在每一次的课堂上遇见你，

但至少知道你是谁。

15:10来的电邮，

在我的电话响起，

突然间的事情，

Forensic Science year 2 同学们，

Chemical colours do colour my life! Here we are doing an ion-exchange experiment using ion-exchange resin with 9M of HCl, colourful appearance with deadly substances.

And below are my products...
This is the well-know vending machines in SPS, when I am spending lots of time doing assignment or studying, and just skipping lunch, these will be the substitution! 25p for a small of cup hot chocolate..
What happens when you gave a metal detector to a bunch of grown-up kids? The lecturer will come along and start digging......
Here seen me "acting" to use a metal detector detecting objects beneath the ground, initially we were just looking for metal objects that had been hid by the lecturer, but we found some objects that gives out more stronger signals, and we started to dig! Eventually we found a coke can that had been buried for quite some time, and had made some holes in the University grounds...

In this Inorganic Chemistry experiment, our lab supervisor, JJ, had to give a short talk about the main hazards of the chemicals we are using, mainly it's the Titanium Chloride (see picture below - in the small vial), throughout the talk he had been keeping eye contact to me, this just gives me the feeling that either he thought I don't understand what he had been saying, or I would probably blow up his lab.

February the 14th

I decided to have a date this day. Well, we actually been dating for quite some time now, since 2008 October till now, have been through ups and downs, spend a lot of time together, trying to understand this and that. Well, I think its time for me to introduce you guys to "her", yup! The special her...

Yea well, its a she, so don't be grumpy-ing, grinning, whinning etc etc. I had really been spending time with her okay?! I go there when I have free time between lectures, but I spend some time in SPS Student Room as well, but Saturday and sometime Sundays I will be in there, in the computer room (not on Facebook all the time), doing assignments and writing up reports. Its so quiet and empty on this day, perfect for privately dating with my assignments.

So today I spend whole day again dating with her. Well, I actually dated Inorganic Chemistry, dying to figure out what the chemical structure is for my lab report, and the assignment due next Friday, its only 2 questions though, but I had spend whole day with only 60% done. Inorganic Chemistry kills people faster...

Initially I found out that the structure below is the one I had been looking for three long weeks.

Then when I surf through Wikipedia (which I shouldn't be), I found out another structure, which has similar features, and totally thrown my guessing into recycle bin. Currently, this structure best represents one of my compound, but still I doubt it.

* 17th February update

After fiddling with photoshop, I had able to remove the background colour of the molecules and make it like transparent, using the same method you people normally see behind the scenes of making a movie with blue or green screen behind. Having black background and black colour carbon atom is a bad idea though, but click on the picture to open it in a new tab if you are interested.

This is one of the experiment we did in Inorganic Chemistry lab, it's about isomerism in coordination complexes, where we have to prepare trans bis(1,2-diaminoethane)bis(thiocyanato)cobalt (III) thiocyanate, sounds gibberish huh?? same to me.. the best part I found in this experiment is when we took the end-product we get for IR test, when the demonstrator asked us what do we get, we just went blank. 3 hours of laboratory works, from preparation to washing up the apparatus, honestly we had no idea what we have. What I can see is some white crystals.
Took this one when me and a friend of mine heading towards London on the 1st of February for the Chinese New Year Celebration. Since technology that advance, we decided to have a go with it. Fancy a trip to Inverness from Canterbury??? Where on Earth is Inverness? Again I have no idea, and I doesn't want to know as well once we get to know about the price.Chinese do like "8" do we? It's either we are lucky, or the restaurant had been putting "88" all over the tables, this one was taken when we are in London having Dim Sum for lunch. Fatt fatt..

On the morning of Monday, I had to drag myself across the snowy City towards the Bus Station, it's about 8.20am at that time, Monday 8.20am!!!!!! Just to get to University for the 9am lecture. But the snow made my day.

Lastly, I went to labs with the Forensic Chemists people, where they are busy doing their lab while I sat around chatting with my friend, well of course I went there not just for the sake of chatting, I have lots of assignments and lab reports on my list, but one of their experiment tops my list! Luminol! After 2 failures of attempt, the 3rd attempt finally paid off with the luminences of about a minute (maybe less).

Where's the light I'm looking for when I'm in the dark?

White University and Canterbury

Its been snowing whole night since 1st of February, on the morning of the 2nd, I found myself in a white Canterbury, walking towards University.

White shoes, with the white road, everywhere is white.

The Christmas tree that is lit up during Christmas, though its not Christmas now, but the snow made the day.
The School of Physical Sciences building, where I had all my labs here, spend quite a lot of time in the student room for physical sciences student as well.
On the way to Darwin College, we found this snowman built by somebody..

Just outside SPS building, the building behind me is Biosciences building.

5 lectures throughout the day on Monday which is the snow day, but the University closed down at 1pm due to the adversed weather, and students went to the University grounds and had some big snow fight.. We can see lots of snowman and snow balls at the height of a man around the campus..

On my way home, i walked past St. Dunstan level crossing, and this picture made my day...

London Chinese New Year - 1st February 2009

This Chinese New Year, I had decided to go with a coursemate to London to celebrate the Chinese New Year, well there isn't much CNY atmosphere in Canterbury, other than wishing each other Happy Chinese New Year. We went to one of the train stations in Canterbury and waited eagerly for the train, and we saw this picture below. 

Thanks to all International Students, now University of Kent able to advertise even in train stations. 

Reaching London around midday, it is crowded around Chinatown, and we found ourselves in a restaurant to have some dim sum for lunch, and then walk ourselves towards Trafalgar Square to watch dragon dance and lion dance, which kinda our main objective to London, other than that, I can't think of any reasons after the lion dance is finished.

Dim sums we had for 2 person as lunch...

This tree was dominated by pigeons..

Ended the day with a chocolate fudge cake..

Got stucked at Faversham on the way back to Canterbury for an hour due to the weather.. one and a half hour of journey becomes 3 hours...
